"Summary": "Ive outlined in my future prediction work that stablecoins represent a new economic layer that will significantly expand global commerce. They enable entirely new products and services that werent previously viable. If you want to learn more how you can create new products and services yourself because of stablecoins, review my google doc about the skills and jobs of a future with AI dominating. It has tons of ideas about how to make money in the emerging AI era. This article reinforces the stablecoin trend. Stablecoins are materially cheaper to use, offer faster settlement, and provide greater security than traditional payment rails. Adoption has accelerated, with total transaction volume rising sharply—particularly following the passage of the GENIUS Act last year. While consumer-to-consumer activity still accounts for the majority of volume, consumer-to-business transactions are growing at a faster rate. What is not yet reflected in the data is machine-to-machine commerce—transactions between AI agents—which is likely to surpass human transaction volume within the next decade. Another notable shift: stablecoins have historically been used primarily for cross-border payments due to their cost and speed advantages over wire transfers. That is now changing. Domestic usage is expanding rapidly, with both businesses and consumers increasingly using stablecoins in place of traditional payment methods. https://a16zcrypto.substack.com/p/stablecoins-are-going-local",
